This is a stingless bee from South America. I painted her with those gold stripes and bright green eyes, but if you look close, the black spots in her eyes are actually little hearts. The honeycomb in the background is shaped like a heart.

This painting was created as a commissioned piece for a client who wanted me to paint a stingless “love bee.” I chose a South American stingless bee as the focus, capturing her golden stripes and luminous green eyes—where the pupils are shaped into hearts, tying her directly to the idea of love. And of course, the heart shaped honeycomb in the background was perfect for the theme.
