On the left, dramatic, snow-brushed peaks rise above slender pine trees at the edge of a serene mountain lake. In the foreground, clusters of tall foxtails stand in warm browns and golds, their tips shaped like shotgun shells — a subtle yet striking symbol that hints at the tension between beauty and danger in the natural world.
In the distance, an abstract and electrifying city rests along the lakeshore. A single energetic line begins behind the tallest mountain and winds its way down the slopes, leaving the playful, fluid marks of a Skier’s or a snowboarder’s descent. The line arcs and swoops through the cityscape before finally disappearing behind a massive abstract figure.
The ducks cut through a band of radiant yellow-green sunrays, stretching across the center of the scene, guiding the viewer’s gaze toward the far horizon. On the right, the world becomes more abstract: deep blue and purple geometric forms drift like shards of a fractured sky, while the ‘Abstract figure” is actually a faint yet powerful image of a great owl’s head emerging from the lake… Its red eye and sharp, downward-curving beak seem to watch over everything — part guardian, part omen.
The piece blends wilderness with dreamscape, a place where the pulse of life, the threat of the hunt, and the vastness of nature all exist in the same breath.

“Darren’s Peace” was a commissioned piece for my friend Darren, who, along with his wife Danielle, were good friends of mine during my time in Lake Tahoe.
