In a surreal dreamscape, a lone woman stands grounded and calm, sword in hand, just after slicing through a clock — a symbolic act of killing time. The broken timepiece bleeds Roman numerals into a flowing river, as if time itself is dissolving into the landscape. Surrounded by a surreal purple flora, she becomes the embodiment of poised strength. Patience here is not stillness — it’s intention.

I painted Patience during a period in my life when I was beginning to understand that patience isn’t weakness — it’s survival. In a world where we’re constantly pushed to react, often in anger or impulse, I was learning to pause. The figure in this piece has just sliced through the clock, severing herself from the tyranny of time. The Roman numerals spill into the river, showing that the past no longer holds power over her.
So many of us let impatience and anger dictate our actions, shaping futures we never intended. But when we learn to stand still in the storm — to wait, to breathe, to respond instead of react — we reclaim our power. Sometimes, patience can save your life, not by changing the world around you, but by changing the way you move through it.
