“Private Dancer”
She dances not for pleasure, but because she must.
Entwined in rhythm and obligation, her body moves with seduction,
while her spirit wrestles in silence.
Multiple faces reveal her truth—ecstasy, weariness, surrender.
Yet even in the weight of expectation,
she finds flickers of peace in the movement,
losing herself in the music
and reclaiming a piece of herself with every step.

I painted this live at the Wellness Center (Dispensary) in South Lake Tahoe…I had a full exhibit up in the dispensary at the time and would often hang out and paint. it was a great way to talk with and get to know a lot of the people and vibe of that town.
“Private Dancer” is an expression of the complex layers we often carry in silence.
She dances—not just for desire, but because she has to.
Each face reflects a different part of her journey: joy, exhaustion, strength, surrender.
There’s a quiet tension in her movements—sensual yet burdened.
Still, through it all, she finds peace…
in the rhythm, in the moment,
in the small spaces where she gets to lose herself and remember who she is. In a lot of ways this depicts my own struggle as a younger artist and sometimes the face I need to put on even when I’m not “feeling it” …but even in those times I would fight through the exhaustion and find peace in the moment.
