Hibiscus and Plumeria Bee

The idea for this bumblebee was definitely one I thought of in the beginning because of my existing journey with these flowers. It all started with a piece I painted for a friend of mine who grew up and lived most of her life in Hawaii and teaching and practicing the sacred art of hula dancing. I originally painted the hibiscus and plumeria flowers in that piece and of course after you spend time with a certain subject anatomy….it becomes second nature to draw and paint it. This piece, like all the other bumblebees in this collection was an absolute joy to paint.
