The Spring Bee Collection: The Mushroom Series
Surreal, Visionary

This painting shows a magical queen bumblebee flying through a glowing golden sky. She’s large, fuzzy, and full of character—with deep green and white fur, bright blue eyes, and delicate wings. Growing from her back is a cluster of colorful mushrooms, like a tiny, enchanted forest riding along with her.
The background is filled with warm yellow light and glowing vertical lines that feel like golden energy or dripping honey. Below her, abstract rocky cliffs rise up, adding depth and contrast to the scene.
This piece feels playful and mysterious—a mix of nature and fantasy. The bee looks like a guardian of something ancient and magical, carrying life and wonder wherever she goes.

This piece is a tribute to mushrooms and the powerful role they play in our world—both in sustaining life and in expanding our understanding of it. Named “Terry” after the great Terence McKenna, the American ethnobotanist and mystic who passionately spoke about the responsible use of naturally occurring psychedelic plants and fungi, it carries a spirit of curiosity and reverence.
It was the very first painting in my Mushroom Bumblebee series, and also the first of all the Spring Bees to find a home. For me, it marks the beginning of a journey—one that blends the beauty of pollinators with the mystery and magic of the fungal kingdom.
