A large, fantastical bumblebee soars across the canvas, its tiger-striped body illuminated by radiant beams of golden sunlight breaking through the clouds. Its oversized kaleidoscopic eyes, glowing in shades of pink and blue, give it a dreamlike, otherworldly presence. Translucent wings edged in warm amber shimmer as they stretch outward in flight. From its back blooms a vibrant bouquet of tiger lilies—orange, pink, and pale yellow blossoms rising skyward, radiating vitality, confidence, courage, and love.
Blending surreal fantasy with symbolic reality, the bee—carrier of flowers and bringer of life—emerges as a messenger of growth, resilience, and interconnectedness. It honors both the labor and fragility of nature’s pollinators while carrying a cosmic sense of mystery and respect.

This piece was inspired by the idea of pairing a tiger-striped bumblebee with a crown of tiger lilies—a creative vision that brought together strength, beauty, and resilience. Lilies have always been one of my favorite flowers, so it felt natural to weave them into the bee’s design. As one of the first nine works in The Spring Bee Collection, this painting carries a special significance for me. In a beautiful twist of synchronicity, it found its home with my good friend Lily, making the connection between art and life feel all the more profound.
